James/Lily V Harry/Ginny -I don't see them as much the same as I think others do mostly because there was no Severus for Ginny.
No, there wasn't, at least not in terms of situation. James and Severus were both presented as combinations of Harry and Draco in terms of personality. The beauty of the possibility of Severus and Lily that was shown in book 7 just totally reinformed the "what could be"/"what could have been" I already had in my head about Draco and Ginny :)
