AAARRRGGHHH, American Idol!!!!

I can't believe I'm posting about American Idol, lol. I've hardly even watched the show the last few seasons, but I came back to see Ellen's first and my Simon's last. And now I'm sucked in.

And speaking of sucking (that is neither positive nor life-affirming), it really kind of sucks who went home tonight. I mean, there's nobody in the top 12 whose presence there truly pains me, but some superior talent definitely left.

For the guys, I think it *should* have been Aaron and Tim to go. Aaron is adorable, but he's a baby! He's got a big voice in there, but it takes him a while to find it. The first half of his performance the other night was intensely uncomfortably off. Tim, admittedly, was awesome the other night! "Hallelujah"! And I was proud of him like Ellen was. But his first performance was horrible, and his second was just meh. I don't think he quite earned a place.

But, we lost Todrick and Alex :( I tried to tell myself at first that Todrick leaving was an okay call, but then he did "Somebody To Love" again, and HOLY CRAP, COME BACK, TODRICK!!! He's soooo friggin' comfortable on stage, I just love to watch him. And he proved he had the voice, too. But I was holding myself together... until Alex. ALEX!!! That voice is insane! So good!! And put it in that precious Peter Tork-ish but cuter exterior and I loved him so much! *crying like Siobhan* <--- Btw, think the camera guy made me ship them.

Okay, the girls. Who I think *should* have gone home... Lacey and... um... yeah, Paige. Lacey, like Tim, had a beautiful performance this week! But her previous ones were nowhere near as good as the other girls, and I worry this week was a fluke. So, again, not quite earned. (Btw, her voice isn't that unique; she sounds exactly like Abra Moore. Just saying.) Paige might actually do well in the top 12, because she does have a great voice. But I realized she hasn't had a single performance yet that I've particularly enjoyed. (And the one this week was miserable.)

Who we really lost... Katelyn and (WHAT?) Lilly! Ack! Katelyn going didn't completely shock me but still made me sad. She had a great voice and a real Kelly Clarkson vibe (reminded me of Kelly, was it just me?) and I definitely wanted to keep her around. Though I get that her performance this week was a bit middle of the road, just good not great. Lilly??? What the-?? I thought Katie earned her spot, but I definitely would have sacrificed her over Lilly. I don't know if Lilly was too unique for people or if they presumed she would be safe and didn't vote. But... sucks :(

Oh well. I'm grateful that some of my favorites are still around... Siobhan! Didi! Crystal! Lee! Andrew! Casey! Big Mike! :)
